About the role
This position is responsible for fulfilling our mission of providing customer care, quality service, and community support while building lasting customer relationships by offering personalized financial guidance and tailored product solutions that help clients achieve their goals.
Responsibilities
- Supports both teller and platform functions, focusing on learning and providing excellent customer service.
- Accurately processes teller transactions and resolves basic customer inquiries.
- Identifies and refers simple sales opportunities while adhering to compliance and operational standards.
- Builds foundational banking, digital, and referral skills to progress toward relationship management.
- Operates personal computer and transaction scanner to process account activity, determine balances, and resolve problems within given authority.
- Performs official notary duties upon completion of becoming a Notary Public for the State of Indiana (all required costs associated with certification will be covered by GBC).
- Answers telephones and directs callers to proper Bank personnel.
- May gather data and process various reports (e.g., currency transaction, returned items, overdrafts, callbacks, etc.).
- May assist in opening and closing the vault daily; may assist in balancing vault currency and coin.
- May type routine letters, reports, and forms.
- Maintains files, copies, scans, and faxes documents, and orders and distributes supplies.

Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Work-related experience should consist of a cash handling and/or customer service background.
- Educational experience, through in-house training, formal school, or financial industry-related curriculum, should be business or financial industry related.
- Intermediate skills in computer operation, including Microsoft Suite.
- Basic typing skills to meet production needs of the position.
- Basic math skills: calculate interest and balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure; locate routine mathematical errors; count currency, coin, and negotiable instruments in a timely manner.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and speak clearly to customers and employees.
- Ability to deal with routine problems involving multiple facets and variables in standardized situations.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work with general supervision while performing duties.
- Current driver’s license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties.
