About This Role
This is a varied position for someone who enjoys working with children of different ages and is willing to assist wherever needed. During the first half of the day, the Floater/Afterschool Teacher will provide support throughout the center. In the afternoon, the position transitions to leading and supervising our school-age group. On days when public schools are closed, this employee will work with the school-age children for the full day.
What You'll Do
- Substitute in classrooms with children of various ages
- Aid teachers and provide classroom support
- Help with light cleaning, organizing, and preparing materials
- Provide general support with the daily needs of the center
- Supervise school-age children during the afternoon program
- Plan and lead age-appropriate activities for the school-age class
- Maintain a safe, positive, and engaging environment
- Work with the school-age children throughout the day when public schools are closed
Requirements
- Minimum of 6 months of professional child care experience
- Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs
- GED or High School Diploma
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills
- Ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment
- A strong understanding of early childhood development
- Must clear full background check and must pass health screening
- Must be willing to work 40 hours a week
- Enjoys working with children of different ages
- Flexible and willing to help wherever needed
- Dependable, patient, organized, and able to take initiative
- Comfortable working in a Christian childcare environment
Nice To Haves
- Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification
