About the Role
We are looking to hire a Registered Nurse, RN Float Pool.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a clinician, team member, and professional according to the American Nurses Association (ANA) Standards of Practice and Professional Performance (2004).
- Deliver evidence-based, safe, efficient and family centered care in accordance with the Mission of MercyOne Clinton Medical Center and the Vision of Patient Care Services.
- Practice within the legal scope of a Registered Professional Nurse as outlined in the Iowa Nurse Practice Act (2006); retain accountability for one’s own nursing practice.
- Plan, assess, intervene, co-coordinating and providing direct patient care by utilizing critical thinking skills.
- Communicate with physicians, ancillary care-givers, patients and families regarding the patient’s plan of care.
- Fulfill the responsibility of holistic (body, mind and spirit) nursing care based on the mission, vision and values of MercyOne Clinton Medical Center.
- Perform assessments including physical, psychosocial, nutritional, functional, safety, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs.
- Work a schedule of 7:00 pm – 7:30 am; every third weekend; holiday rotation.
Requirements
- Average of 1-2 years of clinical experience preferred.
- Current Iowa RN license or compact RN license recognized by the state of IA.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
- American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required if the unit has telemetry monitor capabilities.
- Completion of Mandatory Reporter – Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three (3) months of hire.
- High language, intermediate to high math, high critical thinking ability.
- Basic computer skills required.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in nursing required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Knowledge of healthcare policies and procedures.
