Float Pool Patient Care Associate

About the role

Under the direction of the RN or LPN, assists in the individualized care of the patient to achieve the patient's highest level of wellness. Works cooperatively with others as part of a team; recognizes the importance of group goals. Performs designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to providing care to the patient. Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs and document in the electronic medical record system
• Assist with patient care needs, including: meals, bathing, toileting, ambulation, mobility assistance, patient transport
• Provide clerical support as needed

Requirements

• BLS certification required within 1 month of hire
• PCA competencies completed within 3 months of hire
• No prior experience required

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or G.E.D.; CNA/CPTC or currently enrolled in a healthcare program; or current Mercy co‑worker
• Physical requirements: Ability to push, pull, and/or lift up to 50 pounds regularly; prolonged standing and walking during shifts; ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat

Schedule

Days (7 am – 7 pm), Nights (7 pm – 7 am), PRN option (3 × 12‑hour shifts in a 6‑week period) with the ability to pick up additional shifts as desired.
