Float Phlebotomist

Float Phlebotomist position supporting a healthcare facility in Portland, OR (97227). Local contract role lasting 3 months.

Schedule

6 am – 6 pm

Pay

$20/hr to $23/hr, based on experience, expertise, credentialing, and education. Mileage reimbursement available.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and other specimen collections using straight and butterfly needles.
• Collect, label, process, centrifuge, split, freeze, and package specimens according to established procedures.
• Verify patient information, physician orders, requisitions, and specimen labels for accuracy.
• Explain blood draw and specimen collection procedures clearly and courteously to patients.
• Maintain specimen integrity by following proper storage, temperature, transportation, and handling protocols.
• Perform equipment maintenance, decontamination, recordkeeping, and patient information updates.
• Follow OSHA and DEP regulations and complete required annual department training.
• Answer telephone inquiries and provide laboratory results as appropriate.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 2 to 4 years of phlebotomy experience in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital setting.
• Pediatric and geriatric drawing skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
