About the role

This position is a full-time float position supporting Aurora Pharmacy locations in Waukesha and Milwaukee counties. The schedule includes primarily first shift Monday-Friday with occasional evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Assists licensed pharmacist in technical duties related to preparation and distribution of medications
  • Accurately selects, prepares, and labels medications for patients including hazardous drugs and controlled substances
  • Aids in medication distribution tasks
  • Screens phone calls and routes as needed using proper telephone and voicemail etiquette
  • Aids in daily pharmacy procurement, inventory control, and outdate checking
  • Completes and documents controlled substance removal, stocking, and wasting
  • Performs nonsterile and sterile compounding following USP standards
  • Inspects assigned medication storage areas for compliance with policies
  • Completes and documents medication admission histories
  • May participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • May assist in training pharmacy technicians and extenders
  • Supports area leaders regarding goals and work assignments
  • Develops competence in third-party billing functions
  • Obtains and records initial patient demographic information and performs data entry, insurance verification, and label generation
  • Performs cashiering duties
  • May obtain immunization certification and perform immunizations under supervision of a registered pharmacist
  • Operates an Advocate Health-owned motor vehicle to deliver medications and other essential medical supplies as required
  • May be exposed to various conditions throughout the workday such as walking, standing, pushing a mobile cart, and lifting up to 35 pounds
  • May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste, blood and body fluids, and communicable diseases
  • May be required to perform other related duties as required

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Registration or licensure with state board of pharmacy per state of employment requirements
  • Certification through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (CPhT) or National Healthcareer Association (ExCPT) within 18 months from start date, or sooner if in more stringent in-state requirements

  • Expert knowledge of metrics utilized to measure revenue cycle quality and processes
  • Ability to lead a diverse group of teams
