Job Description

Aid physicians with medical procedures in the office setting. Responsibilities include phlebotomy, laboratory testing, quality control, instrument troubleshooting, and maintenance. Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Performing quality control procedures before patient testing.
  • Carrying out laboratory blood work and blood draws.
  • Handling and processing specimens according to laboratory procedures.
  • Maintaining accurate and precise technical laboratory procedures meeting regulatory standards.
  • Preparing blood or bone marrow slides for evaluation, sending lab results to appropriate facilities, and documenting in patient charts.
  • Documenting vitals, vital signs, height, weight, pain levels, and conducting PHQ9 depression screenings.
  • Assisting with medical procedures such as bone marrows, fine needle aspirates, paracentesis, and pelvic exams.
  • Preparing encounter forms and initialing steps in the EMR for electronic superbills.
  • Showing critical blood counts, obtaining scans and CDs, and maintaining inventory.
  • Initiating troubleshooting procedures for instrument malfunctions and contacting service companies.
  • Performing EKG testing and other duties to maintain laboratory compliance.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of patient information and following safety guidelines.
  • Training new employees and assisting with business needs across multiple locations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Valid driver's license and vehicle for travel to other clinic locations.
  • One year experience as a medical assistant in clinic or physician’s office with venipuncture ability.

Travel

Up to 25% standard core workdays/hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Occasional overtime and weekend shifts based on location hours and operational needs.
