About the role
Assists the manager and management team in the daily operations of Goodwill retail and/or bookstore locations. Daily duties include management functions, opening/closing store, and overseeing production/retail operations. Ensures all staff follows policies and procedures. Must support multiple retail and/or bookstore locations as needed and assist in overseeing their operations. Communicates weekly with the supported retail store’s District Manager or bookstore’s Senior Manager.
Responsibilities
- Ensures excellent customer service is provided to customers and donors.
- Provides product that meets company pricing and quality standards.
- Flexible to work various locations, shifts, and schedule changes to meet retail/bookstore needs.
- Assumes all daily responsibilities in the absence of store management.
- Motivates, trains, coaches, engages, and develops staff in a positive work environment to increase productivity and achieve departmental goals.
- In absence of a store manager, utilizes performance management tools such as annual evaluations and goal-setting conversations to develop staff.
- Responsible for daily store operations, completing required reports, and achieving revenue goals.
- Monitors labor, store expenses, employee morale, product levels, quality, pricing, and customer service using provided tools.
- Utilizes critical thinking and strategic vision to ensure revenue goals are met.
- Maintains store in a safe, clean, and well-merchandised manner per company standards, policies, procedures, and applicable laws or regulations.
- Assists in maintaining organizational initiatives such as department WIGS (4DX) and Donor Optimization goals and strategies.
- In partnership with management, ensures employment relationship issues are resolved according to organization’s best practices, policies, procedures, core values, and employment laws.
- Performs other duties as assigned or needed.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) and/or Associate’s Degree; 2 years of college/technical school preferred.
- Two to five years of related experience.
- Proficiency in email, internet use, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
- Must have a CA Driver’s License and a driving record acceptable to Goodwill’s insurance company’s requirements.
- Ability to operate an electronic cash register.
- Ability to work with simple arithmetic (addition, subtraction, fractions, percentages, etc.).
- Ability to read and understand sales reports.
Schedule
- 5 days per week, including evenings and weekends.
Travel
65% travel required.
