About the role
Boeing Test & Evaluation (BT&E) is seeking Flight Test Engineers to support the Executive Transport and Surveillance portfolio in Oklahoma City, OK. This role is primarily first shift, but may require occasional off Friday/weekend or off shifts for test execution. Up to 25% domestic travel is required, potentially for a longer-term assignment or DTA (domestic temporary assignment).
Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and execute aircraft ground and flight test activities in support of developmental, certification, or operational test programs
- Develop and author flight test plans, test procedures, test cards, and test reports, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
- Support real-time test operations, including test conduct, data assessment, and anomaly resolution during lab, ground, and flight test events
- Collaborate closely with pilots, maintenance, instrumentation, safety, systems engineering, and program leadership to ensure safe and effective test execution
- Lead test readiness reviews (TRRs), safety reviews, and post-test reviews, identifying risks, mitigations, and lessons learned
- Resolve test issues and anomalies, coordinating with engineering and program stakeholders to drive timely resolution
- Adequately adhere to configuration management, test discipline, and procedural compliance throughout all phases of testing
- Interface with customers, regulatory authorities, or external partners as required during test planning, execution, and reporting
- Mentor and support junior flight test engineers, sharing best practices and flight test discipline
- Promote and model a strong safety culture, emphasizing hazard identification, risk management, and continuous improvement
- Support on-site and off-site test operations including travel to test locations, production facilities, or operational bases as required
Requirements
- This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship
- Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or a non-US equivalent qualification directly related to the work statement
- At least 5 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Current FAA Class III medical certificate or the ability to obtain one
- Willing and able to travel up to 25% of the time both domestically and internationally
Qualifications
- Experience in developmental, certification, or operational test environments (ground test, flight test, or integrated test campaigns)
- Hands-on experience with test planning and execution, including test procedures, test cards, risk assessments, and real-time test support
- Active U.S. Top Secret/SCI Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required)
- Master’s degree
- Experience supporting aircraft or major system systems such as avionics, flight controls, propulsion, structures, environmental systems, or mission systems
- Familiarity with flight test instrumentation, data acquisition systems, and post-flight data analysis tools
- Knowledge of aircraft certification and regulatory processes, including familiarity with FAA, military, or customer certification requirements
- Experience working in cross-functional teams, collaborating with pilots, maintenance, instrumentation, safety, systems engineering, and program management
- Strong technical writing and communication skills, with experience authoring test plans, procedures, test reports, and briefing materials
- Familiarity with systems engineering principles, including requirements verification and validation (V&V), configuration management, and change control
