About the role
We’re hiring a Flight Paramedic to work with our team of air-transportation experts to safely transport patients to and from medical facilities and respond to scene calls. You’ll join a quality, professional team committed to high safety standards for crew and patients.
Responsibilities
- Complete and submit electronic patient-care records for each dispatched flight within the specified time frame.
- Perform daily base checks, including narcotic counts.
- Provide pre-hospital and intra-hospital advanced life-support care from initial contact until patient care is relinquished to the accepting medical facility, maintaining thorough documentation.
- Maintain competency in knowledge and psychomotor skills through ongoing laboratory and clinical experiences.
- Document required licensure, certifications, continuing education, safety, and advanced procedures in the Employee Education Manual.
- Operate and perform routine maintenance on all emergency-program equipment and supplies.
- Maintain positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals, and the public.
- Serve as a medical flight team member.
- Attend pre-mission briefings and debriefings; complete necessary documentation.
- Assist with pre-mission liftoff checklists and pilot tasks such as radio, navigational, and visual observation activities.
- Comply with safety standards to ensure the safety of self, medical personnel, patient, and equipment prior to liftoff.
- Conduct aircraft safety briefings as needed.
- Fill open or vacant shifts within assigned area as directed by the Regional Director.
Requirements
- Minimum of three years’ experience in a 911 or critical-care setting; flight experience preferred.
- Current EMT-P license/certification in the states served by the assigned area.
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and trauma certification required prior to flight status.
- Flight Paramedic-Certified (FP-C) within 24 months of hire.
- Instructor certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS/PEPP, ITLS/PHTLS preferred.
- NREMT-P certification may be required in assigned area.
