Flexo Press Operator Trainee

About the role

This is an entry-level position where the right candidate will have a path to becoming a trained Flexo Press Operator. The role offers onsite training and the opportunity to learn a valuable skilled trade in the printing industry, with unlimited growth potential and continuous career advancement.

Responsibilities

• Learn a skilled trade in the printing industry
• Interpret job orders and identify proper materials for label production
• Produce labels for packaging on paper, plastic, foil, and film materials using UV and water-based inks on 7” to 17” presses with up to 10 color stations
• Ensure all necessary materials are at the press for each job
• Load raw material onto the butt splicer for continuous runs
• Assist in changing the matrix (waste) roll on the fly
• Support changeovers, including switching out print cylinders, washing ink stations, and replacing printing plates
• Use rewind tables to remove splices and defective labels from finished rolls
• Monitor the web for imperfections and maintain overall quality during continuous runs
• Maintain a clean and organized work area for smooth shift transitions and accuracy
• Double-check paperwork, part numbers, and labeling to ensure they match the running item

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• A minimum of one year of flexographic printing press experience preferred
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
• Must be able to read and interpret rulers, scales, and other measurement devices
• Regularly required to stand and frequently required to walk
• Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without mechanical assistance
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
