Flex Respiratory Therapist

Position Purpose

A Registered Respiratory Therapist who performs various therapeutic procedures including advanced practice procedures such as operating balloon pumps (IABP), delivering inhaled Epoprostenol, and performing basic bedside respiratory parameters.

Participates in orientation of staff and student training programs for Trinity Health, which is a teaching institution representing the Respiratory Care department.

Flex Staff Only Schedule Requirements

• Submits availability for a minimum of two 12-hour shifts per schedule period where at least one of the shifts occurs on a weekend.
• Allowable, eight-hour shifts only in certain situations.
• Submit to work one holiday 12-hour shift per year, which may be rotated each year.
• If arriving late, receives two (2) hours of pay and sent home.
• Shifts will be assigned on an as-needed basis.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Behaves in accordance with the Mission, Vision and guiding behaviors of Trinity Health.
• Provides professional leadership in the delivery of patient care.
• Uses "AIDET" principles when interfacing/treating every patient throughout the organization.
• Uses key words to help patients understand their care and build relationships.
• Serves as a consultant, resource person, and role model representing respiratory care in health system committees or work groups as needed.
• Maintains the confidentiality of information according to HIPPA guidelines.
• Serves as a resource for other departments and staff.
• Facilitates good rapport and cooperative relationships approaching conflict in a constructive manner.
• Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participate in their resolution.
• Maintains safe respiratory therapy practices, alerts leadership of any safety issues or concerns.
• Performs all duties and responsibilities of a Respiratory Therapist per AARC guidelines.
• Obtains and maintains competencies per the Registered Respiratory Therapist orientation.

Education, Experience & Licensure

• Graduate of a two-year advanced practitioner -Accredited Respiratory Therapist program.
• Registry eligible.
• Maintain current RRT credential.
• Maintain valid State of Michigan License in Respiratory Care.

Registered Nurse - RN - Cardiac Progressive Care

A Registered Nurse, RN works in a collaborative environment to deliver excellent patient care as part of an interdisciplinary team providing evidenced based medicine and individualized patient care. A Registered Nurse, RN is expected to facilitate all aspects of the patient visit experience.

Graduation from an accredited Nursing school and program. Associate degree in nursing required, BSN preferred. In Grand Rapids if ADN must enroll in BSN program within 6 months of hire and complete in 4 years of hire.

Licensed in the State of Michigan. Experience as an RN required if new grad must apply to RN residency that takes place three times a year in February, June, August and October.
