Flex Crew Welder

FutureFuel Chemical Company is looking for a Welder to join our Flex Crew at our Batesville, Arkansas site.

About the Role

This position works under the supervision of a Supervisor, Construction & Project Engineering, and performs a wide variety of skilled welding at the Batesville plant.

Responsibilities

• Pass one or more of the following welding performance tests: GTAW Test in 6G position, SMAW Test in 6G position, and a GMAW plate test
• Produce quality welds on pipe and/or structural steel
• Assist with installation of pipe and components
• Assist with clean-up
• Communicate effectively to perform essential job functions
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervision
• Work inside and outside in varying weather and temperature conditions
• Complete required safety training as directed
• Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions
• Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits
• Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers
• Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications
• Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment
• Weld using aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, and other alloys, separately or in combination
• Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding
• Select and install torches, torch tips, filler rods, and flux according to welding chart specifications or types and thicknesses of metals
• Ignite torches or start power supplies and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded, completing electrical circuits
• Connect and turn regulator valves to activate and adjust gas flow and pressure to obtain desired flames

Requirements

• Basic math, reading, and writing specifications
• Proper hazardous material handling and disposal
• Proper use of appropriate PPE and tie-off procedures
• Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work-related issues and problems
• Ability to determine the kind of tools and equipment needed for the job
• Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing work tasks
• Strong initiative, self-direction, and commitment to follow-through
• Understanding and adherence to all FFCC Safety Processes, including Confined Space Entry, Safe Work, and Open Flame
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations pertaining to welding
• Ability to wear a respirator when needed
• Ability to read and understand welding procedures, quantities, or sizes of materials required
