The internship is an on-call position, offering a competitive pay rate commensurate with education, with a pay range of $19.29 to $21.80 hourly. Eligible for the City and County of Denver’s 457b retirement plan. Not eligible for additional benefits. On-call positions may have variable work schedules.

Location

This is a fully onsite internship located at Denver International Airport. Work schedule is flexible to accommodate academic commitments, with a maximum of 60 hours over a two-week pay period (average of 30 hours per week).

Who We Are & What You’ll Do

Denver International Airport (DEN) is one of the world’s busiest airports, handling 82,427,962 passengers annually. As a Fleet Technician Intern, you will train under a Mentor to assist in maintaining and repairing various vehicles and equipment, including ARFF trucks and snow removal fleets. Key responsibilities include:

• Inspecting equipment for structural integrity and potential maintenance issues
• Conducting routine and annual inspections and preventive maintenance
• Performing repairs and replacements of worn parts
• Identifying and reporting major problems requiring mechanical attention
• Maintaining hydraulic, air, and fluid systems
• Lubricating and cleaning equipment
• Operating vehicles and equipment for servicing and storage
• Assisting with emergency road service and vehicle deliveries
• Removing and replacing lighting units and performing other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

• Current enrollment in a trades or vocational accredited program leading to a certificate, license, or associate degree
• Recent graduate (within 1 year of completion of a specified program)
• No substitution of experience for education is permitted

Skills and Characteristics

• ASE Certification in Automotive or Medium/Heavy Truck (a plus but not required)
• Strong interest in fleet maintenance and repair
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of safety practices and emergency response procedures
