About the role
SRM Concrete, a national leader in ready mix concrete, is hiring Fleet Mechanics to keep their fleet of essential vehicles running safely and efficiently. The position requires a hands-on approach to diesel engines and heavy equipment, and offers both entry-level training and opportunities for advancement.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on diesel engines and equipment, including oil changes, lubrications, and filter replacements.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in mixer trucks, loaders, dump trucks, tankers, and other heavy equipment.
- Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify issues and determine necessary repairs.
- Rebuild, replace, or repair major components such as engine heads, blocks, starters, and transmissions.
- Collaborate with the operations team to schedule maintenance and repairs, minimizing downtime.
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures in the workshop and on job sites.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair work using company systems.
- Stay updated on the latest diesel engine technology and repair techniques through ongoing learning.
Requirements
- Willingness to work variable shifts as needed to support fleet operations.
- Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply—we offer on-the-job training for those new to diesel mechanics or heavy equipment maintenance.
- Proven experience as a diesel mechanic, fleet mechanic, or heavy equipment technician is a plus.
- A strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems is preferred.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment; willingness to learn new technologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to safety standards and protocols.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical certification in diesel engine repair is a plus.
- A valid driver’s license required; CDL is preferred.
- Willingness to complete SRM’s pre-employment screenings.
