Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and scheduled services on heavy trucks and light-duty vehicles.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and brake systems.
- Troubleshoot issues with diesel engines, transmissions, and mixers.
- Conduct welding, fabrication, and minor bodywork repairs when required.
- Auxiliary in roadside or onsite service calls to minimize downtime.
- Perform DOT-required inspections and maintain compliance records.
- Accurately complete work orders, repair logs, and inspection reports.
- Ensure vehicles meet all safety, emissions, and regulatory requirements.
- Support accident/incident repairs and investigations.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas.
- Monitor and manage parts, tools, and inventory.
- Assist with the implementation of fleet maintenance programs.
- Communicate well with repair teams, drivers, dispatch, and fleet managers about vehicle issues.
- Provide feedback on recurring problems or trends affecting the fleet.
- Support training of drivers on pretrip inspections and basic maintenance checks.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational training preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in truck or heavy equipment maintenance (readymix or construction industry a plus).
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and heavy truck systems.
- CDL Class B or A preferred (or ability to obtain).
- Familiarity with diagnostic software and fleet management systems is a plus.
- Welding and fabrication skills are a plus.
- Must have own basic hand tools.
