Regular Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain a variety of equipment, including hand tools, safety equipment, trailers, backhoes, dump trucks, fleet vans, box vans, pickup trucks, and other tools used for company jobs, ensuring that all items are in working condition.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks, such as engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotations and changes, and replacing filters, to ensure equipment remains in service and minimizes downtime.
- Communicate with the Shop Manager regarding equipment repair statuses, upcoming needs, and items requiring replacement. Provide input on priority expenditures and service timelines that could impact daily operations.
- Address driver concerns related to equipment performance and safety, conduct regular inspections, and take appropriate action to resolve any issues.
- Maintain detailed service records for each piece of equipment, ensuring that all maintenance is documented and completed according to the schedule.
- Ensure all purchase paperwork, receipts, service agreements, and warranties are submitted to the appropriate personnel for record-keeping and future reference.
- Ensure that all equipment complies with state, federal, DOT, and OSHA safety standards, maintaining a safe work environment for all team members.
- Respond promptly to equipment emergencies, identifying cost-effective and timely solutions to minimize operational disruptions.

Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall success of the maintenance team and company operations.
Team for Collaboration & Support
You’ll report directly to the Fleet Manager, who reports to the Director of Operations. Your department consists of 4 team members, including your manager. You’ll collaborate with drivers, equipment operators, and other team members to ensure the timely repair and maintenance of all equipment.

Success in this role means maintaining our equipment and vehicles in a safe, reliable, and fully operational state. Your proactive maintenance and responsive repair efforts will keep our projects running smoothly, with minimal disruptions due to equipment downtime.
Technical Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED is required; completion of a vocational or technical program in automotive repair, diesel technology, or a related field is preferred.
- 3-5 years of automotive or diesel repair experience, including work with gas and diesel engines.
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Must possess the necessary tools to perform assigned tasks.
- Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of vehicles and equipment, including diagnostic systems and methods.
- Familiarity with precision measurement instruments, oxygen/acetylene equipment, and lifting devices (e.g., bottle jacks, floor cranes) is preferred.
- Basic computer skills, including experience with maintenance programs and diagnostic systems.
- Qualified or willing to become qualified to perform annual DOT inspections.
