Fleet Maintenance Technician – Heavy Equipment
About the role
Bengal Transportation Services is seeking a dependable Fleet Maintenance Technician – Heavy Equipment to perform preventive maintenance, inspections, cleaning and minor repairs on our fleet of cranes and heavy equipment. Equipment includes crawler cranes, hydraulic and truck cranes, forklifts, telescopic handlers/Lulls and other heavy equipment. This position does not service tractor-trailers or semi-trucks. The technician will operate a company service vehicle throughout Bengal's yard and must be capable of working independently with minimal oversight and direction.
Schedule
Standard Schedule
Monday–Thursday: 6:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
Friday: 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
Evenings and weekends as operational needs require
Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance services on cranes and heavy equipment
- Complete oil and filter changes, lubrication, greasing, fluid checks and other routine maintenance
- Wash and detail equipment
- Inspect equipment for leaks, damage, excessive wear and other maintenance or safety concerns
- Accurately document completed inspections, maintenance performed and repairs needed
- Collect oil samples for analysis as required
- Perform minor repairs identified during inspections, including replacing light bulbs, wiper blades and similar components
- Assist mechanics with equipment repairs and maintenance as needed
- Safely operate and maintain the assigned company service vehicle
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the service vehicle
- Clean and organize the shop and work area after use
- Properly handle tools, filters, lubricants, fluids and other maintenance materials
- Follow all company safety policies and established maintenance procedures
- Complete assigned work independently with minimal supervision
Requirements
- Must be at least 23 years old to meet company vehicle eligibility requirements
- Valid driver's license required
- Must successfully complete a Motor Vehicle Record review and maintain an acceptable driving record
- Basic knowledge of heavy-equipment preventive maintenance, lubrication and inspection procedures preferred
- Ability to recognize and document leaks, worn components, damage and needed repairs
- Ability to follow maintenance schedules, instructions and safety procedures
- Must be dependable, organized and capable of working independently
- Must be available to work evenings and weekends when needed
- Ability to work outdoors and in shop and yard environments
- Ability to climb on and off equipment and regularly bend, kneel, reach, lift and handle tools and maintenance materials
Preferred Credentials And Training
- Current Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) preferred
- Current Alliance Safety Council training credentials preferred
- Current Security Passport preferred
Pre-Employment Requirements
Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of:

Required Tools
The technician must provide the basic hand tools necessary to perform routine maintenance, including but not limited to:
- Wrenches
- Sockets and ratchets
- Hammers
- Filter wrenches
- Grease gun
- Other commonly used basic hand tools
Bengal will provide specialty tools and equipment required for the position.
