About the role
As a Fleet Maintenance Mechanic II, you will perform preventive maintenance on trailers, tractors, and yard tractors, diagnosing and repairing medium to heavy-duty refrigerated trucks and trailers.
Responsibilities
- Conduct preventive maintenance, inspections, and general repairs
- Diagnose and repair air and hydraulic brake systems, including ABS
- Perform electrical diagnostics and repairs
- Repair liftgate systems and fabricate as needed
- Diagnose drivelines, steering, and suspensions
- Maintain accurate repair order entries and time accountability in the RTA Maintenance Program
- Assist mechanics in repairs and continue to learn advanced diagnostics and systems
- Complete other relevant duties as required
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of mechanical experience or technical training with 1 year of experience
- Must have all necessary hand tools
- Preferred experience in driving/moving Class A equipment
- Tire and wheel, brakes, HVAC, and FHWA DOT Inspections certifications preferred
- Ability to repair brakes, rear doors, air systems, and electrical systems with minimal supervision
- Strong teamwork and independent work skills
- Valid driver’s license and must be 21 years of age or older
Skills
- Diagnose and repair air and hydraulic brake systems, including ABS

- Driveline, steering, and suspension diagnostics
Work Environment
- Regularly required to stand, sit, and use hands for various tasks
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform repetitive movements
- Exposure to temperatures ranging from 20 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit
- Manual dexterity and coordination required for working at various heights and in confined spaces
