Fleet Maintenance Mechanic II

About the role

As a Fleet Maintenance Mechanic II, you will perform preventive maintenance on trailers, tractors, and yard tractors, diagnosing and repairing medium to heavy-duty refrigerated trucks and trailers.

Responsibilities

• Conduct preventive maintenance, inspections, and general repairs
• Diagnose and repair air and hydraulic brake systems, including ABS
• Perform electrical diagnostics and repairs
• Repair liftgate systems and fabricate as needed
• Diagnose drivelines, steering, and suspensions
• Maintain accurate repair order entries and time accountability in the RTA Maintenance Program
• Assist mechanics in repairs and continue to learn advanced diagnostics and systems
• Complete other relevant duties as required

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of mechanical experience or technical training with 1 year of experience
• Must have all necessary hand tools
• Preferred experience in driving/moving Class A equipment
• Tire and wheel, brakes, HVAC, and FHWA DOT Inspections certifications preferred
• Ability to repair brakes, rear doors, air systems, and electrical systems with minimal supervision
• Strong teamwork and independent work skills
• Valid driver’s license and must be 21 years of age or older

Skills

• Diagnose and repair air and hydraulic brake systems, including ABS

Work Environment

• Regularly required to stand, sit, and use hands for various tasks
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform repetitive movements
• Exposure to temperatures ranging from 20 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit
• Manual dexterity and coordination required for working at various heights and in confined spaces
