Responsibilities
- Identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in diesel and gasoline-powered trucks and equipment
- Repair or replace faulty components such as brakes, transmissions, engines, and suspension systems
- Follow safety protocols and ensure vehicles meet 90-day BIT, DOT, and CARB company safety standards
- Comply with all environmental protocols
- Operate computerized diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot and calibrate systems
- Prepare work orders and maintain service, repair, and maintenance records in SAP software program
- Document repairs, maintenance activities, and parts used for each vehicle
- Prepare work orders and order parts in SAP operating system
- Respond to breakdowns and perform roadside repairs when necessary
- Keep current with new technologies, tools, and repair techniques through ongoing training
- Must be able to lift 60 lbs regularly, bend, stoop, and stretch
- May be required to perform other related duties as needed
Requirements/Qualifications
- Fleet maintenance mechanic with 3-5 years of experience in heavy-duty diesel and medium-duty vehicle repair
- Ability to safely operate vehicles and equipment to test and troubleshoot for proper operation before and after maintenance
- Computer skills necessary for data entry and work orders
- Experience with basic fabrication, use, and application of welders, plasma, and gas torch systems
- Reliable attendance
- Ability to work safely and efficiently independently and as a team
- Must be able to bring tools necessary to perform the functions of the job
- Follow and promote CalPortland's safety culture, policies, and procedures, including OSHA and MSHA regulations
Education
- High school diploma/GED
Conditions of Employment
- Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check
- Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing
