Paragon Leasing, LP exclusively services heavy-duty commercial trucks for Stevens Transport, Inc. at their Dallas, Texas terminal, and is hiring an entry-level fleet maintenance role to start a diesel mechanic career. This role conducts initial inspections of all tractor and trailer units as they enter the yard and all final inspections before they leave. No previous repair or preventative maintenance experience is required, although some mechanical knowledge weighs into the hiring decision.
Responsibilities
- Greet drivers on the yard in a timely, friendly manner
- Perform multi-point walk-around inspections of all units
- Verify vehicle identification and record mileage
- Assess exterior damage and defects, including condition of tires, frame, and mechanical components
- Check oil and coolant levels, air filter restriction, and tire pressure
- Data entry
- Ensure full compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment that complies with OSHA standards
Requirements
- Basic computer skills
- General understanding of mechanical/technical terms
- Experience working on brakes
- Valid Class C driver's license
- High school diploma
- Ability to clearly read, write, and speak English
- Basic math calculations

Physical Demands
- Maneuvering around, in, on, and under trucks/tight spaces to properly inspect and diagnose problems

- Climbing ladders, stairs, and platforms
- Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
