About The Role
Our Authentication Centers (warehouses) are where the magic happens! The Art & Science of Real comes to life within our facilities located in New Jersey and Arizona — combining the knowledge of hundreds of luxury experts with cutting-edge, proprietary technology. As consigned goods travel into our facilities, the team processes, authenticates, and photographs each item in preparation for listing to our website. As a FJW Senior Specialist, you will oversee the facilitation of all Fine Jewelry & Watches (FJW) to optimize product quotas by performing the following duties. This is a production based role.
What You Get To Do Every Day
- Execute all aspects of the authentication process by accurately identifying colored stones and diamonds using GIA evaluation techniques as well as testing procedures used to determine precious metal purity.
- Research fair market value and market demand of branded and unbranded jewelry.
- Set list prices for branded and unbranded jewelry with direction and final approval from the Gemology and/or Jewelry Authentication team.
- Absorb training all new Sr. Specialists hired.
- QC product from Specialists when being challenged on harder pieces.
- Help manage the product sort on all received items.
- Adhere to first in, first out methodology to ensure all consignments are prioritized and product flows according to plan.
- Evaluate, authenticate, and price highest risk jewelry within the FJW room (larger gemstones, engagement rings).
- Gem identification experts to answer any questions for the rest of the team.
- Provide training, tips/tricks, and presentations on all difficult gemstones.
- Aid in the authentication process by locating brand identifiers (holograms, date codes, authenticity cards, and hallmarks) and evaluating quality of materials and construction.
Minimum Requirements
- 7+ years of fine jewelry & watch experience with some GIA classwork in lieu of GIA Certification
- Experience with Diamonds required (selling, grading, pricing)
- Experience with colored stones required (identification, pricing)
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Preferred Requirements
- GG certification from GIA preferred
- Appraisal experience preferred
