Fitter-Welder (IDS PIT Airport)

Responsibilities

• Proactively foster a learning safety culture by modeling a safe work ethic and promoting the value of open reporting and shared safety responsibility.
• Follow all safety policies, standards, and procedures to achieve a safe and healthy work environment for all staff, customers, and visitors.
• Support Inland’s environmental commitments by helping to limit our organization’s impact on the ecosystem.
• Abide by Inland’s procedural handbooks, operational plans, and directives of management to ensure all work is done according to specifications and/or regulations.
• Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and have zero tolerance for unsafe acts.
• Plan and carry out work assignments and handle problems in accordance with instructions, policies, previous training, or accepted company practices and procedures.
• Interpret construction drawings (blueprints and general layouts).
• Fit various metals such as carbon, stainless steel, and aluminum.
• Design and construct jigs and templates when required.
• Set up and operate GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, GTAW welding applications.
• Keep all Inland-owned or managed equipment, tools, and materials in good working condition, including keeping them clean and returning them to assigned storage areas when not in use.
• Work cooperatively with all team members and external stakeholders involved in the completion of assigned duties.

Requirements

• Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check.
• Must have your own welding helmet. Some uniform pieces will be provided.
• Ability to perform core manufacturing processes (Acetylene cutting, scarfing & welding, plasma arc cutting, hydro testing pipe, etc.).
• Ability to inspect parts with a focus on best-in-class quality control.
• Read, write, speak, and communicate effectively.
• Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently to achieve project goals before deadlines.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to maintain a positive and good-natured attitude.
• Ability to remain calm and perform under pressure within fixed time constraints.
• Must possess a strong work ethic, positive attitude, with an ability to motivate and work in a team environment.

Qualifications

• 2-year Welding Diploma.
• A minimum of 3–5 years of welding experience.
• Experience with carbon, stainless steel, and aluminum tig welding is mandatory.
• Red Seal/Journey Person considered an asset.

Work Environment

The Fitter-Welder will work in a manufacturing and production environment with regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions (wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles, and vibration). The noise level is usually loud. There may be times when the Fitter-Welder will be required to work outside of their normal schedule to meet customer and/or operational requirements.

Physical Demands

• Must be physically fit and able to perform all operational requirements.
• Position involves standing for extended periods, bending, kneeling, lifting, climbing, using hands to control tools and feel objects, and reaching with hands and arms.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull objects up to seventy-five (75) pounds occasionally and fifty (50) pounds frequently.
• Wearing of personal protective equipment when required and full mobility in a high-risk environment.
• Must be able to speak clearly and hear efficiently to comprehend instructions.
• Ability to climb 15-foot heights for work.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Schedule

This is a full-time, hourly-paid position with an average of 40 hours per week. Hours are flexible, with additional hours possibly required during certain projects.

Travel

Periodic travel to IDS sites to facilitate welding repairs or project requirements.

Pay

$28 - $35.00/hr.
