Fitters employed at Veritas Steel's Palatka location are responsible for performing all fitting operations, primarily including grinding operations; along with repairs and miscellaneous tasks assigned. They must be able to meet high production demands promptly and complete high-quality work with expertise. Fitters must also adhere to company policies to ensure a safe working environment. Principle Duties & Responsibilities By using proper safety, building some of the most iconic bridge projects in AmericaWork alongside and learn from some of the most skilled steel fitters in the countryDrill, install high-strength bolts, and grind steel componentsProduce fillet and groove welds using the SMAW, SAW, and FCAW processesMaintain a clean, organized work areaParticipate in continual improvement activitiesRead and interpret blueprintsKnowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Requirements High School diploma or GEDMust be able to read, write, and comprehend English Need to be able to read metric tapesFlexibility is necessary to work with others in a variety of circumstances and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methodsMust be able to work with a wide variety of individuals in the workplace Employee must be able to adapt to changing work priorities, communicate with diverse groups, meet deadlines and schedules, work as part of a team, and work with constant interruptions during the workdayEmployee must be able to deal effectively with times pressures, long hours, rapidly changing priorities, and stressPhysical Requirements: Able to lift 40 pounds and carry 30 poundsMust be able to push /move objects up to 50 pounds of forcePulling requirements up to 122 pounds of forceNecessary to stand, walk, stoop, and kneel up to 99% of the shiftMust have a good range of motion when reaching forward, shoulder to overhead, and bendingAgile fingers and thumbs on both handsWorking Conditions: Work is performed indoors in a large warehouse or outside in all weather conditionsThere is regular exposure to dirt, dust, paint fumes, noise, moving equipment, heavy steel & other possible hazardous conditionsSafety glasses, hearing protection, hard hats, and steel-toed boots are required; a respirator is required for specific operations Compensation details: 19.45-19.45 Hourly Wage PI9c495955918f-25448-41878882
