About the Role
The Fitness Trainer will run the Planet Fitness group fitness program (PE@PF), helping new and existing members achieve their fitness goals through workout design, equipment instruction, and class leadership.
Responsibilities
- Recruit new and existing members to participate in fitness classes.
- Log classes after each session and maintain accurate records.
- Actively assist members during walk-arounds and ensure proper equipment use.
- Clean assigned sections of equipment each shift and perform locker room checks every 15 minutes.
- Serve as a brand ambassador by promoting a Judgement Free lifestyle and upholding facility rules and policies.
- Conduct and manage the PE@PF program, including scheduling and leading classes.
- Consult with members about fitness goals and provide safe equipment instruction.
- Create bi-weekly exercise updates and adjust class offerings based on club size and member traffic.
- Assist with front desk activities, including answering phones, checking members into the system, new member sign-ups, and facility tours.
- Respond to member questions and concerns professionally, escalating issues to management as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- CPR certification required.
- Nationally accredited training certification (ACE, NASM, ISSA, or NCSF) must be obtained within two weeks of employment.
- Training on tours, info calls, Datatrak, customer service expectations, and completion of mandatory Planet Fitness University courses.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Flexible availability, including overtime, weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Punctuality, reliability, and strong customer service skills.
- Upbeat, positive attitude with a passion for fitness and health.
- Ability to interact professionally with members and co-workers, exceeding expectations.
- Strong listening, empathy, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrate diplomacy and appropriate behavior in all interactions.
Physical Demands
- Continual standing and walking during shifts.
- Frequent talking in person or on the phone.
- Occasional lifting of up to 75 pounds.
- Frequent climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, pulling, and grasping.
- Must never position themselves under equipment.
