Aquila's Fitness Specialist (as-needed) assists members in safe and effective exercise and performs a wide range of technical exercise and administrative duties in a health/fitness center in Suitland, MD.
Pay
$23.08/hour, plus 50% personal training commissions.
Schedule
As-needed, during business hours Monday–Friday, between 6 am and 7 pm.

Responsibilities
- Supervise exercise areas
- Educate members concerning safe exercise techniques
- Teach group exercise classes
- Conduct personal training sessions
- Perform exercise assessments and prescribe exercise upon American College of Sports Medicine guidelines
- Conduct safe and effective assessments including cardiovascular, strength, flexibility, and body composition analysis; evaluate and interpret data and identify high-risk participants and special populations
- Aid members with spotting and equipment usage
- Explain all equipment
- Ensure the maintenance, cleanliness, and safety of all equipment
- Adhere to departmental and club policies and procedures
- Adhere to client's policies and procedures
- Attend staff meetings
- Assist in wellness and fitness promotions and external events
- Perform daily administrative duties
Qualifications
- B.S. in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or related health/fitness field OR an active NCCA-accredited national fitness certification (ACE, NASM, AFAA, ACSM, NCSF, NSCA, or other NCCA-accredited certification)
- Active CPR certification
- 0–1 year experience in supervising adults during exercises
- Must be a U.S. Citizen (federal agency requirement)
- Must be able to complete a background check
