Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging 1:1 coaching, small-group training, and group fitness classes with clear instruction, motivation, and appropriate progressions.
- Offer basic nutrition coaching and healthy eating guidance within scope, supporting members in developing sustainable habits that complement their fitness goals.
- Maintain strong floor presence to engage members, answer questions, and promote safe, effective equipment use and proper exercise form.
- Build supportive member relationships while guiding onboarding, orientations, and introductory training.
- Conduct comprehensive fitness assessments and design individualized, evidence-based programs tailored to goals, abilities, and health history.
- Provide corrective exercise, mobility strategies, and safe modifications for diverse or special-population needs, while tracking progress through reassessments.
- Ensure safety and risk management by monitoring techniques, maintaining clean and organized spaces, and upholding policies and professional ethics.
- Contribute to program development, workshops, and collaborative initiatives with fitness leadership, community center initiatives, and wellness partners as appropriate.
- Participate in ongoing professional development, continuing education, and staff training to maintain expertise.
Requirements
- 18 years of age
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Industry recognized Health or Fitness Coaching, Personal Training, and Group Exercise Certification (ACE, NASM, ACSM, ISSA, NSCA, etc.)
- Current CPR/AED certification (or obtained within 30 days of hire)
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and motivational skills to be able to inspire, support, and encourage participation
- Adaptability to work effectively with beginners, athletes, older adults, youth, and special populations
- Ability to provide safe, effective instruction for diverse populations
- High-energy, positive attitude, and good at managing time and work demands
- Be willing to obtain knowledge on rock climbing and supervise this area
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field OR advanced coursework (preferred)
- Additional specialty certifications (e.g., Corrective Exercise, Strength & Conditioning, Functional Training, Senior Fitness, etc)
- Experience performing fitness assessments and designing individualized programs
- Background in community recreation, membership-based fitness centers, or wellness programs
