Description
Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center seeks a part-time Fitness Instructor/Personal Trainer to develop and implement a fitness program tailored to the needs of their senior residents. The position offers a competitive pay scale of $18.20 - 21.25 per hour and benefits including paid time off and reduced-priced employee lunches.
Schedule And Pay Information
Hours: 10-13 hours per week
Position pay scale: $18.20 - 21.25 per hour
Essential Functions
- Develops and implements a fitness program to meet the resident's needs.
- Plays a key role in promoting, planning, and directing the fitness center.
- Directs individual or group fitness programs based on resident needs.
- Creates and maintains a safe and clean environment for residents to use the fitness equipment.
- Communicates with residents about the fitness equipment and ensures they can safely use it.
- Maintains the privacy and confidentiality of resident health care information.
- Interacts positively with all residents, staff, families, and visitors.
- Ensures the atmosphere is conducive to the privacy, dignity, cleanliness, safety, and well-being of each resident.
- Reports incidents of abuse, neglect, or violations of resident rights immediately.
- Protects personal belongings of residents and assists in locating missing items.
- Completes all in-service training requirements in a timely manner.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director of Marketing & Resident Services.
Essential Qualifications & Requirements
- Physical condition allowing for normal fitness coordinator duties including sitting, reaching, grabbing, standing, walking, using arms and hands, reading, and presenting in front of large groups.
- Ability to communicate verbally with people of diverse backgrounds and education.
- Able to use reasonable prudent judgment in problem-solving and decision-making.
- Computer skills to perform duties such as creating flyers and invitations for classes/sessions.
- Effective communication skills in English both in writing and verbally.
- Warmth, love, and compassion towards residents.
- Dependability and punctuality.
- Adherence to all regulations specified in the Fairhaven employee handbook, procedures, and policy documents.
Experience & Education Or Skills
- High school or equivalent education.
- Advanced communication skills for interactions with residents, staff, families, and visitors.
- Computer skills to perform job duties.
- ACE, AFAA, ACSM, or CSCS certification required.
- Bachelor’s degree in an exercise or fitness-related field preferred.
- Ability to obtain an appropriate driver’s license.
