Fitness Instructor

About the role

The Fitness Instructor leads engaging, results-oriented fitness classes for Invited members. This role fosters a supportive environment where members feel motivated to achieve their fitness goals. Reporting directly to the Fitness Manager or Fitness Director, the Fitness Instructor ensures the safety and effectiveness of each class.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a service-oriented environment within the group exercise classroom.
• Provide personalized guidance to members, addressing their individual needs.
• Create and lead personalized fitness programs based on current trends and member preferences.
• Update choreography and music playlists regularly.
• Attend continuing education opportunities to stay updated on fitness trends and best practices.
• Complete all class administrative work as required.
• Maintain the classroom equipment and restock supplies as needed.
• Perform close business functions following established guidelines and procedures.
• Ensure daily assignments are completed to uphold Club standards and maintain an organized workspace.
• Inspire confidence in the group exercise area by setting a positive example.
• Support colleagues and adapt to additional tasks as directed.
• Follow company, club, and departmental standards, policies, procedures, manuals, and instructions.
• Maintain safe working habits and exhibit good conduct.
• Show initiative for personal and professional growth, including maintaining relevant certifications.
• Manage time efficiently to balance multiple tasks and responsibilities.
• Proactively address issues by utilizing available resources to find effective solutions.
• Communicate clearly and professionally, ensuring effective interactions with all stakeholders.
• Remain calm and focused under pressure, successfully coordinating multiple tasks.
• Pay close attention to details to ensure accuracy and quality in all tasks.
• Attend daily line-ups and participate in team activities as requested.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience as a group fitness trainer.
• Certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED within the last 6 months.
• Certified group exercise instructor with AFAA, ISSA, NETA, or ACE.
• A college degree in health, fitness, exercise science, or a related field is preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to educate and motivate clients.
• Ability to assess individual fitness levels and develop tailored exercise programs.
• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and occasional exposure to temperature changes, dust, fumes, or gases.
• Squatting, kneeling, reaching, grasping, twisting, and bending.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 100 lbs. on occasion.
• Talking, hearing, and seeing.

Preferred

• A college degree in health, fitness, exercise science, or a related field.

Pay

Base pay will be determined by skills, experience, education, location, and hours worked. Schedule

Adherence to attendance requirements as outlined in the weekly schedule. Flexibility to work additional hours as needed to meet position deadlines. Availability to work on weekends and/or holidays as required.
