Fitness Instructor

About the role

The Fitness Instructor leads engaging, results-oriented fitness classes for Invited members. This role fosters a supportive environment where members feel motivated to achieve their fitness goals. Reporting directly to the Fitness Manager or Director, the Fitness Instructor ensures the safety and effectiveness of each class.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a service-oriented environment within the group exercise classroom.
• Provide personalized guidance and support to members.
• Connect with members regularly to promote fitness activities and encourage engagement.
• Create and update class curriculums based on current fitness trends and popular formats.
• Attend continuing education opportunities to stay updated on fitness practices.
• Manage classroom equipment and restock supplies as needed.
• Perform administrative tasks as required.
• Ensure the classroom is well-organized and tidy.
• Inspire confidence in the group exercise area by setting a positive example.
• Support colleagues and adapt to additional tasks as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience as a group fitness trainer.
• Certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED within the last 6 months.
• Certified group exercise instructor with AFAA, ISSA, NETA, or ACE.

Preferred

• A college degree in health, fitness, exercise science, or a related field.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to assess individual fitness levels and develop tailored exercise programs.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and driving.
• Occasional exposure to temperature changes, dust, fumes, or gases.
• Squatting, kneeling, reaching, grasping, twisting, and bending.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 100 lbs. on occasion.
• Talking, hearing, and seeing.

Work Schedule

• Adhere to attendance requirements as outlined in the weekly schedule.
• Flexibility to work additional hours as needed to meet position deadlines.
• Availability to work on weekends and/or holidays as required.
