About the role
The Fitness Instructor leads engaging, results-oriented fitness classes for Invited members. This role fosters a positive and motivating environment where members feel supported and inspired to achieve their fitness goals. The Fitness Instructor provides expert guidance, addresses individual needs, and promotes a sense of community.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a service-oriented environment within the group exercise classroom.
- Provide personal recognition to members and ensure they receive the safest and most effective fitness regimen.
- Connect with members regularly and promote fitness activities both in and out of class settings.
- Create personalized service for members, including towel and water service.
- Promote the club’s amenities, programs, and facilities.
- Design and update class curriculums using current fitness trends and formats.
- Regularly update choreography and music playlists.
- Attend continuing education opportunities.
- Complete all class administrative work as required.
- Maintain the classroom equipment in good working condition and restock supplies as needed.
- Perform close business functions following guidelines and procedures.
- Ensure daily assignments are completed to uphold Club standards and maintain orderly workspaces.
- Inspire confidence in the group exercise area by serving as a fitness role model.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience as a group fitness trainer.
- Certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED within the last 6 months.
- Certified group exercise instructor from AFAA, ISSA, NETA, or ACE.
Preferred
- A college degree in health, fitness, exercise science, or a related field.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to assess individual fitness levels and develop tailored exercise programs.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and driving.
- Occasional exposure to temperature changes, dust, fumes, or gases.
- Squatting, kneeling, reaching, grasping, twisting, and bending.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 100 lbs. on occasion.
- Talking, hearing, and seeing.
Work Schedule
- Adhere to attendance requirements as outlined in the weekly schedule.
- Flexibility to work additional hours as needed to meet position deadlines.
- Availability to work on weekends and/or holidays as required.
