Fitness Instructor

About the role

As a Fitness Instructor at Bath Health and Wellness Center, you will support members and patients in creating healthy and safe exercise habits in a fun, welcoming environment. This role offers hands-on experience in a respected healthcare setting while allowing you to positively impact lives daily.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physical assessments, exercise prescriptions, and exercise floor coverage.
• Maintain equipment cleanliness and perform preventive maintenance.
• Enforce policies and deliver excellent customer service.
• Make regular rounds of the exercise floor to ensure safety and assist members with exercise-related questions.
• Schedule and administer computerized health risk appraisals and physical fitness assessments for new and existing members.
• Prescribe individualized exercise programs following ACSM guidelines based on assessments.
• Follow equipment cleaning and preventive maintenance checklists, inspecting and cleaning equipment daily.
• Report malfunctioning equipment within 24 hours, including notifying the Manager and recording issues in the equipment log.
• Develop and implement member exercise incentive programs to motivate consistency and retention.
• Maintain and promote current information on all club programs, services, and activities.
• Demonstrate proficiency in operating computer hardware and KI software.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Physical Education, or a related field.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work variable hours.
• Experience in administering physical assessments, exercise prescriptions, and program development.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree.
• AED certification.
• ACSM, ACE, AFAA, NSCA, or related certifications.
• One year of experience as a Fitness Instructor in a community, corporate, commercial, or clinical health/fitness facility.
• Basic computer operational skills.

Physical Requirements

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Schedule

• Tuesday–Thursday: 10:00 AM–6:30 PM
• Friday: 5:15 AM–1:45 PM
• Saturday: 9:45 AM–6:15 PM

Pay

The pay range for new hires is $15.75–$21.65 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set, and education. This range does not include shift differentials, overtime, or the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package.
