Fitness Instructor

About the role

We are seeking an individual to teach group fitness classes at the New Ulm Recreation Center. Ideas for class format are welcome but we are currently seeking Aquatics and Chair Fitness Instructors.

Responsibilities

• Plans, conducts, and monitors fitness programs and classes.
• Communicates equipment needs to supervisor.
• Maintains safety during fitness class and programs.
• Sets up for fitness programs and cleans up fitness facility.
• Communicates effectively in oral and written form.
• Adheres to safety practices and procedures and attends all training as required.

Requirements

• Enjoy working with people.
• Group fitness certification and/or degree in Exercise Science or related field.
• Teaching experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Four years of classes in an accredited college in health, exercise, or human performance or current certification in a nationally accredited fitness program (NETA, ACE).
• Certification in American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid.

Skills

• Knowledge of department fitness policies and procedures.
• Ability to perform first aid and CPR or to become certified within three months of employment.
• Ability to follow verbal and written directions.
• Ability to communicate both in oral and written form.
• Thorough knowledge of various exercise equipment and methods.
• Ability to interact with the general public in a positive manner to promote program(s).
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a crew in an efficient, safe and cooperative manner.

Pay

$17.08 - $20.19 per hour.

Schedule

Classes take place on weeknights and possibly rotating Saturdays.
