Fitness Instructor - Aqua

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Develops and instructs various fitness classes which may include aerobics, cycling, strength, yoga and water aerobics. Develops class content appropriate to the course description and level. Adapts content and instruction for participant fitness and skill levelEducates participants on proper technique to ensure safetyKeeps accurate records including class attendanceAttends staff meetings and workshops to stay current in Town of Castle Rock offerings and in fitness trends/certificationsProvides customer service by answering questions regarding fitness classes and responding to customer concerns Minimum Qualifications An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered. Education: High School Diploma or GED Experience: Two (2) years of experience in teaching fitness classes; or equivalent combination Licenses And/or Certifications Required CPR and First Aid Certifications are required (which can be obtained at the Recreation Center) or ability to attain within 30 days of hireA National Fitness certification is required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Skill in instructing othersSkill in interacting with public/program participantsSkill in performing CPR and first aidAbility to utilize a variety of advisory data and information, such as equipment manuals, handbooks, catalogs, user guides and Town policy manuals Physical Demands Ability to physically perform fitness instruction and demonstrate class skills/moves Occasional physical work lifting no more than 10 pounds Occasional lifting, carrying, walking and standingOccasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stop, kneel, crouch or crawlFrequent hand/eye coordination to operate personal computer and office equipmentVision for reading, recording and interpreting informationSpeech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens Work Environment Works primarily in a clean, comfortable environment Equipment Used This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment Must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check prior to commencing employment.
