Fitness Instructor - Aqua

Responsibilities

• Develops and instructs various fitness classes, which may include aerobics, cycling, strength, yoga, and water aerobics.
• Creates class content appropriate to the course description and level, adapting for participant fitness and skill levels.
• Educates participants on proper technique to ensure safety.
• Maintains accurate records, including class attendance.
• Attends staff meetings and workshops to stay current with Town of Castle Rock offerings and fitness trends/certifications.
• Provides customer service by answering questions about fitness classes and responding to customer concerns.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Two (2) years of experience in teaching fitness classes; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• CPR and First Aid Certifications (can be obtained at the Recreation Center) or ability to attain within 30 days of hire.
• A National Fitness certification is required.

Skills

• Skill in instructing others and interacting with the public/program participants.
• Skill in performing CPR and first aid.
• Ability to utilize advisory data and information, such as equipment manuals, handbooks, catalogs, user guides, and Town policy manuals.

Physical Demands

• Ability to physically perform fitness instruction and demonstrate class skills/moves.
• Occasional physical work lifting no more than 10 pounds.
• Occasional lifting, carrying, walking, and standing.
• Occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate personal computer and office equipment.
• Vision for reading, recording, and interpreting information.
• Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens.

Work Environment

• Works primarily in a clean, comfortable environment.
• May require occasional use of personal equipment (e.g., vehicle, cell phone, tools) in the course of employment.

Must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check prior to commencing employment.
