About the role
Join an award-winning team at Epping Forest Yacht & Country Club, one of the premier places to work in Northeast Florida. We are seeking enthusiastic, service-oriented individuals to provide a warm and welcoming experience for members and guests in the Fitness Center.
Responsibilities
- Arrive at work on time and prepared for each scheduled shift.
- Work a flexible schedule that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Maintain a professional appearance and wear the required uniform and name tag.
- Create a welcoming environment by greeting members and guests promptly and courteously.
- Build positive relationships with members and learn their names and preferences whenever possible.
- Serve as a positive role model and contribute to a supportive, team-oriented work environment.
- Become proficient in the proper operation and safety features of all appropriate equipment.
- Complete assigned opening and closing responsibilities.
- Maintain clean, neat, organized, and fully stocked work areas.
- Distribute and collect towels and locker keys.
- Fold, organize, and replenish towels as needed.
- Answer telephone calls promptly and professionally, transfer calls, and take accurate messages.
- Maintain required logs, files, reports, and departmental records.
- Schedule reservations for Fitness Center services, programs, and events.
- Learn and operate the point-of-sale system, process transactions, and run reports accurately.
- Check in members and guests according to established policies and procedures.
- Maintain organized and attractive retail apparel displays.
- Keep departmental binders current and organized and make copies as needed.
- Follow all Fitness Center policies, safety standards, and emergency procedures.
- Assist with maintaining the overall cleanliness and appearance of the Fitness Center.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Assistant Fitness Center Director or Fitness Center Director.
Requirements
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English at a level sufficient to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate effectively with members, guests, and colleagues.
- Prior customer service experience is required.
- Current CPR certification is required or must be obtained within the designated timeframe established by management.
- Previous fitness center experience is helpful but not required.
Qualifications
- Must understand and consistently demonstrate professional courtesy and exceptional customer service.
- Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills are required.
- Must be able to learn fitness center policies, reservation procedures, point-of-sale systems, and equipment safety guidelines.
Physical Abilities
- Must be able to stand and walk for several hours at a time.
- Must be able to lift, carry, and move up to 30 pounds.
- The position also requires frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive movement while performing assigned duties.
