About the role

The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), an internationally renowned college of art and design, business and technology, of the State University of New York, invites applications for a part-time adjunct faculty position in the Business Enterprise Area of the Entrepreneurship Department, within the School of Business and Technology.

Responsibilities

  • Teach the required 15-week class schedule
  • Pursue involvement in professional organizations and maintain industry relationships
  • Deliver relevant course material, assess student performance, provide guidance and assistance to students both in and out of the classroom, and submit grades on time
  • Meet the college-wide core competency areas: Globalism, Instructional Design, Learning Enrichment, Professionalism, and Technology

Requirements

  • Minimum Qualifications: Relevant degree and experience in business or entrepreneurship
  • Preferred Qualifications: Professional capabilities in Globalism, Instructional Design, Learning Enrichment, Professionalism, and Technology

  • Experience in at least one of the following areas: fashion, design, illustration, fine arts, spatial or visual design, or production development or other creative fields

  • Ability to teach specific business classes to students in creative majors
  • Knowledge of the fashion and design industries
  • Experience in entrepreneurial and business aspects of the fashion and design industries

Benefits

The UCE-FIT Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) governs the compensation, benefits, and conditions of employment. Compensation is $89.98 per hour based on minimum qualifications. The final rate, step, and appointment rank are determined by a candidate's ability to demonstrate that they meet the respective school's additional criteria for hiring "above the first step," in accordance with the CBA Adjunct Salary Schedules (pp 88-89).
