The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), an internationally renowned college of art and design, business and technology, of the State University of New York, invites applications for a part-time adjunct faculty position in the Illustration and Interactive Media Department, School of Art and Design.

Job Description

The Illustration and Interactive Media department is recruiting a pool of applicants for possible adjunct teaching positions. Successful candidates will be industry-leading animators (2D and/or 3D) and game designers (2D and/or 3D) who can demonstrate forward-thinking creativity and exceptional ability as storytellers. We are looking for experts in the following areas: character design, storyboarding, 2D animation, 3D modeling, 3D animation, and game engines such as Unity and Unreal.

Requirements

• Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree
• Relevant 6 years of industry experience and or its equivalent
• Preferred Qualifications: At least one year of teaching experience at the college level
• Master of Fine Arts degree or equivalent

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Award-winning creativity and story development
• Ability to teach technical courses as well as design studios
• Ability to instruct and ensure the safe use of tools and machinery and successfully communicate conceptual ideas for class projects through lectures and visual presentations
• Expertise in After Effects
• Expertise in 3D modeling and animation software such as Maya
• Expertise in game engines such as Unity and Unreal
• Expertise in real-time rendering in 3D graphics and games
• Expertise in augmented reality (AI), virtual reality (VR), and mixed reality (MR) technologies
• Expertise in audio/sound design

Additional Information

• This is a part-time position, adjunct teaching position beginning in Spring 2026

Pay and Benefits

• $89.98 per hour based on minimum qualifications
• Final rate, step and appointment rank are determined by a candidate's ability to demonstrate that they meet the respective school's additional criteria for hiring "above the first step," in accordance with the CBA Adjunct Salary Schedules (pp 88-89)

Physical Requirements And Work Environment

• The working conditions for this position will be any combination of the classroom, lab, and/or office space
• Certain roles may be required to handle machinery and chemicals
• The physical requirement for this position will require occasional sitting, constant standing, occasional bending, frequent walking, and occasionally lifting 10 lbs. or less
