Aquatic Environment Consultants, Inc. (AEC) is one of the largest privately owned pond and lake management companies in the Mid-Atlantic region. AEC manages thousands of acres of freshwater inland ponds and lakes, with a team of fisheries biologists, aquatic biologists, and aquatic technicians who share a passion for the outdoors. Projects span Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. AEC specializes in managing noxious aquatic vegetation, harmful algae blooms, water quality monitoring, fish population management, and water body aeration.
About the Role
The position is full-time and primarily involves fieldwork on water bodies ranging from less than an acre to thousands of acres. Most work is conducted from a boat. Overnight travel is expected, and work hours typically range from 50 to 60 hours per week during the season. Workdays are generally Monday to Friday, with rare weekend work.
Responsibilities
- Conduct fieldwork on various sizes of water bodies from a boat.
- Apply aquatic herbicides.
- Operate sampling equipment for water quality and fisheries management.
Requirements
- Undergraduate college degree in biology, fisheries, limnology, environmental sciences, or a related field is preferred.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to travel out of town and stay overnight as required.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Experience driving large pickup trucks with trailers is preferred.
- Electrofishing and aquatic pesticide application experience is beneficial.
