About the role

The primary responsibilities of this position involve proposing, designing, and conducting studies or monitoring protocols to assess fish populations, trends, and issues relevant to office objectives and basin-wide rehabilitation plans. This includes collaborating with project leaders and partners to prioritize projects, define objectives, and establish procedures for conducting studies. Additionally, the incumbent is responsible for preparing detailed reports and presentations summarizing findings, offering recommendations for improvements, and evaluating the outcomes of fish management activities.

Responsibilities

• Propose and implement studies or monitoring protocols to assess fish populations and trends.
• Collaborate with project leaders and partners to identify priorities, set objectives, and develop procedures for conducting studies.
• Prepare and present findings from studies and evaluations to various stakeholders, including the public and regulatory bodies.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of fish management activities using standard and innovative sampling methods and statistical analyses.
• Provide scientific and technical advice in fishery-related subject areas.
• Foster positive relationships with other Fish and Wildlife Service units and external partners.
• Apply administrative management principles to oversee the planning and execution of a variety of biological programs.
