About the Role

The Fiscal Technician II / Customer Service Representative works under the general supervision of the Accountant/Fiscal Analyst II and ensures daily operations of the Business Affairs Office are run professionally, courteously, and in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cashier duties for the college, including registration process of students, payment of tuition, deferments, student fees, and delinquent balances in accordance with policy and procedures.
  • Open and close the register, ensuring end-of-day sessions are balanced and prepared for deposit.
  • Manage college merchant services (credit cards), including equipment and reconciliation of daily credit card receipts and monthly statements.
  • Maintain and disburse petty cash funds, ensuring proper charges to accounts.
  • Make bank deposits.
  • Perform customer service and receptionist duties, including greeting the public, students, and employees requiring assistance.
  • Serve as the liaison between the public, college personnel, and the business office staff.
  • Collect, sort, and distribute mail for the college; allocate postage and copier readings for each department.
  • Ensure proper working order of postage machines, fax machines, and copiers; arrange repairs as necessary.
  • Calculate travel reimbursements for employees and verify accuracy and validity per regulations.
  • Maintain records for filing the annual travel report.
  • Process Add/Drop forms for the business office, verifying accounts.
  • Balance operating and federal bank statements monthly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

This position requires the ability to work independently with deadlines, strong customer service skills, effective communication, excellent organizational skills, and knowledge of office policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and equipment.

Requirements

  • Associate degree with accounting-related courses plus 2 years of accounting/bookkeeping experience, or a high school diploma and four (4) years of entry-level accounting or bookkeeping experience.
  • A bachelor’s degree may be substituted for work experience.
