Fiscal Intermediary Associate

Essential Responsibilities

  • Work with people we support and brokers to initiate and complete the self-direction process.
  • Explain all fiscal procedures and required waiver documentation to people we support and their families; such as the hiring and training of staff.
  • Serve as a liaison between the person and their family, broker, and OPWDD.
  • Monitor the person’s budget utilization and perform monthly financial statement oversight, review utilization, communicate overages and trends to support broker providing ongoing review.
  • Provide quality assurance and administrative support working with individuals and their families.
  • Perform OPWDD and compliance reviews of Life Plans.
  • Attend Life Plan meetings semi-annually representing the Fiscal Intermediary, assessing satisfaction of services and financial budget oversight.
  • Assist with record keeping, gathering required documentation for Community Hab/FI services, and providing follow up as needed.
  • Provide administrative support including data entry and entering information into CHOICES system.
  • Completes all assignments in a timely manner.
  • Prepare statistical data.
  • Ensure compliance with all pertinent government and agency regulations and operating standards.
  • Ensure understanding of changes in the field.
  • Establish a work environment that creates positive communication between supervisors and employees and assimilates new employees to the Agency’s culture, values and mission.
  • Perform other related duties as requested.

Educational Requirements/Qualifications/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in related field
  • Must have proficient verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Intermediate knowledge of computer programs (Including all Windows program, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, Internet Browser, Access, Word and Excel)
  • Must be able to understand and process financial reporting
  • Must have a valid New York State driver’s license

Required Abilities

  • Must be able to maintain focus in a very busy work environment.
  • Must be able to manage time independently, adhering to all deadlines including unexpected demands for information and/or additional assignments.
  • Use of good judgment based on regulatory and quality standards is required.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
  • Regularly attend scheduled shifts and meetings, being punctual.
  • When reporting for duty, meetings, or trainings be in a condition suitable for assuming responsibilities of the position.
  • Exercise tact, discretion and judgment in working with a variety of people.
  • Legible handwriting.
