About the role

This role reports to the Executive Director of Financial Reporting, Planning, and Analysis within Innovative Education (InEd). The position is responsible for developing and maintaining complex, multi-year Excel-based financial models that support auxiliary-funded, college-managed self-supporting and market-rate academic programs in accordance with Florida Board of Governors (BOG) Regulation 8.002.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and enhances financial modeling and forecasting tools.
  • Supports quarterly forecasting and annual budget development through updates and submissions to the USF Bulls Budget System (BBS).
  • Coordinates and submits billing adjustments necessary to ensure students enrolled in self-supporting programs are charged accurately.
  • Ensures that enrolled students are appropriately billed in accordance with approved tuition and fee structures.
  • Participates in a variety of ad hoc financial projects and continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Develops and utilizes tools related to BBS budgeting and forecasting.
  • Develops new budgets and provides analysis of existing budget(s) by performing a detailed review and analysis of the actual vs. model/budget for numerous accounts.
  • Advises management of potential areas of over/under allocation and generate budget transfers as needed to avoid budget errors.
  • Annually sets up new LTD financial analysis including revenue reconciliations, submits student OOS auxiliary fee adjustments, maintains and develops Power BI Dashboards, develops new templates/models as required to adapt to changing needs.
  • Serves as a backup resource within the team including support for the distance learning financial operations, audit, state authorization, Licensure, and reporting activities as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration or other field directly related to the position's specific responsibilities and 4-6 years of fiscal related work experience; or a Bachelor's degree in no specific required field and four years of fiscal related work experience, or six years fiscal related work experience.
  • Preferred: MBA or CPA.
  • Advanced Skills in Microsoft, experience in using/developing data visualization tools (Power BI), SQL.
  • Experience researching and extracting data from appropriate relational databases such as OASIS, FAST and Oracle HR.
  • Two or more years working in higher education.
  • Knowledge of higher education financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting practices.
  • Understanding of University funding models, financial controls, compliance requirements, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Knowledge of tuition, student billing, and academic program financial operations.

Special Skills/Training

  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Power BI highly desirable.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including experience in using pivot table, power query, macros, advanced formulas, and database management.
