First Year Composition (EN100) Adjunct Instructor

About the role

The Elizabethtown College Department of English seeks an Adjunct Instructor‑First Year Composition for an on‑campus, face‑to‑face role. The position begins in the spring semester (January 2027) and will involve delivering foundational coursework with an emphasis on information literacy, the research process, and revision. The adjunct is expected to use current composition pedagogy and employ active learning. Applicants must reside in one of the following states due to internal payroll tax limitations: Maryland, Maine, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, or Virginia.

Responsibilities

• Deliver foundational coursework emphasizing information literacy, the research process, and revision.
• Use current composition pedagogy and employ active learning techniques.
• Teach in‑person sections.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or higher in English, Rhetoric, Journalism, or Creative Writing.
• Evidence of teaching experience, including experience teaching first‑year composition.
• Evidence of experience and expertise in designing in‑person instruction.
• Ability to teach in‑person sections.
