First Shift Welder
About the role
Philippi-Hagenbuch, Inc. (PHIL) is a global leader of customized off-highway truck haulage enhancements including: Autogate Tailgates, Water Tanks, Truck Bodies, Trailers, Load Ejectors and Sideboards. PHIL was founded in Peoria, IL in 1969 and has continued to operate as both a privately owned and team-centered company since.
We have an opportunity for one Welder/Fitter (full-time, first shift) to join our team! Welders at Philippi-Hagenbuch, Inc. (PHIL) take finished product from the Torch, Press, and Machine Shop Departments and read prints to fit together and weld assemblies. At PHIL, each product we design, and manufacture is customized and made-to-order, so you won't be stuck working on the same thing each day.
Responsibilities
- Adhering to all safety policies
- MIG and dual shield welding
- Welding from a variety of positions, e.g. flat, vertical, and overhead
- Visually inspecting quality of work
- Grinding out inferior quality welds and reworking as needed
- Reading and interpreting prints, assembly drawings, and Bill of Materials
- Performing material handling operations as needed (training available)
- Operating a hand torch and hand plasma torch
- Cross-training to assist in other departments as needed
- Clocking to jobs using a barcode scanning system
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the department
Requirements
- Print reading and fitting experience preferred
- Flat MIG wire welding experience needed
- Out-of-position dual shield welding experience preferred
- Openness to travel (1 week per quarter or less) for onsite production installation and warranty work
- Ability to drive for travel requirements

Pay
Starting pay is $23 to $26 per hour. This is a non-exempt/hourly position, eligible for overtime.
