First Shift Receiving & Inventory Specialist

About the role

The Receiving & Inventory Specialist assists with unloading and storing product shipments and maintains efficient unloading procedures. They ensure accurate tracking, management, and reporting of warehouse inventory.

Responsibilities

• Unloads deliveries, labels materials, and stores products in their designated locations.
• Maintains efficient unloading procedures.
• Compares the number of items in each shipment to shipping invoices to verify product inventory.
• Performs incoming inspection process by assessing product width, thickness, dimensions, damage, and material type.
• Performs physical counts of materials to ensure inventory accuracy.
• Performs regular cycle counts and reconciles them with Global Shop Solutions (ERP system).
• Investigates and resolves inventory discrepancies, including overages, shortages, and damaged goods.
• Coordinates with warehouse staff to ensure proper storage and labeling of products.
• Prepares and analyzes inventory reports, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
• Ensures compliance with safety and organizational standards for inventory handling.
• Maintains 6S (sort, set, shine, standardize, sustain, safety) standards in all work stations.
• Operates forklifts.
• Completes other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2–5 years of prior shipping/receiving experience.
• Prior experience with inventory counts.
• Prior forklift experience; forklift certification preferred.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Physical Requirements

• Works in uncontrolled environmental conditions: noise, dust, dirt, and mobile equipment.
• Routine, repetitive lifting up to 35 lbs.; occasional heavy lifting and pushing/pulling 10 lbs. regularly, 1 to 10 hours per day.
• Any combination of standing, bending, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, feeling, and walking 8 to 10 hours per day.
• Ability to work up to 8–10-hour shifts and overtime as required by the work.
• Use of all limbs; dexterous and steady use of hands and arms for long periods of time.
• Simultaneous mental and muscular coordination, visual and audio awareness of surrounding area.
