Responsibilities
- Assist in training all processing and production personnel in the assigned department.
- Help provide a safe work environment for all personnel and ensure production complies with food safety standards established by Michael Foods, Inc.
- Work with department leads and/or supervisors to maintain sanitation standards of the facility.
- Coordinate with processors to determine system readiness, production lines, product types and quantities, and line sterilization to meet company production requirements.
- Coordinate the need and arrival of packaging materials for each line to ensure supply needs are met.
- Maintain effective working relationships between department members and other areas.
- Verify accuracy and completeness of operator downtime, temperature charts, and other documentation before submission to the shift supervisor.
- Communicate with co-workers at shift change to ensure accurate information transfer regarding production and scheduling.
- Monitor production lines for quality and notify appropriate personnel of any discrepancies.
- Monitor rework inventories and coordinate rework activity to ensure product is processed before becoming inedible.
- Follow all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements and safety procedures.
- Adhere to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), SOP (Standard Operating Procedures), and SSOP (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures).
- Maintain updated records and follow all USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) regulations and guidelines.
- Report and fill out work orders for maintenance issues related to productivity, food safety, quality, and human safety.
- Encourage employee suggestions to improve productivity, quality, and cost control.
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance.
- Ensure a safe and healthy workplace for everyone by adhering to safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
- One to three months of related lead experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors, or employees.
- Mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out oral instructions and deal with problems involving one concrete variable in standardized situations.
Pay
$18.36 to $22.03 per hour.
