Bowhead seeks First-Line Supervisors to oversee daily maintenance and production operations at the Red River Army Depot in Texarkana, TX and Watervliet Arsenal in Watervliet, NY. This role ensures the facility remains mission-ready and compliant with strict Department of Defense (DoD) regulations.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations to ensure production goals are met.
- Enforce safety and company policies, including adherence to Army, company, and OSHA safety guidelines.
- Track staff attendance, punctuality, and behavior; record violations and create work schedules.
- Assign daily tasks and handle immediate employee needs, including training.
- Maintain appropriate security clearance for access to the Depot Production Computer System.
- Ensure employees log into the Government computer system using their Common Access Card (CAC) at least once weekly.
- Act as Site Supervisor during non-day shifts.
- Attend at least one daily start-of-work meeting in a supervised cost center.
- Work overtime as needed to meet mission requirements.
- Notify the Government of corrective actions taken for employees not meeting expected standards.
- Ensure work meets prescribed quality standards.
- Promote collaboration among team members and across departments.
- Coach and train team members to support continuous improvement.
- Track performance metrics and provide regular feedback.
- Report updates to management and relay information to frontline employees.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, or performance reviews as needed.
- Resolve customer or operational issues requiring escalation.
- Manage employee work schedules and contribute to workforce planning.
- Monitor department budgets and recommend process adjustments when needed.
Requirements
- At least four to six (4-6) years of experience in Army depot-level maintenance and production support.
- Minimum of four (4) years of documented management experience managing twenty or more (20+) personnel, both directly and indirectly, in support of the US military.
- Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in maintenance, production, and logistics.
- Extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Competency in OSHA general industry health and safety practices.
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor’s degree preferred in business, acquisition, supply chain, or relevant field.
- Logistics Management experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis (four additional years may substitute for a degree).
- Written and oral communication abilities commensurate with a management role.
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Ability to understand, speak, read, and write English.
- Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment to work independently or as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
- Must be able to maintain a Secret-level security clearance; US citizenship is required.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction to the Army Depots management and technical team.
- Monitor and provide effective performance feedback through recognition, coaching, and disciplinary action.
- Ensure communication flows between upper management and employees.
Environment
- On-site role in office and non-office settings, including maintenance, production, and logistics facilities.
- Requires wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety glasses, protective-toe footwear, gloves, and hearing protection.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
- Must be able to twist, bend, and squat periodically.
