About the role

The First Cook prepares high quality foods for patients and non-patient services.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates the ability to perform clinical/technical/service/administrative tasks
• Prepares high quality foods for patient and non-patient services
• Ensures that all equipment used for handling and preparation of food is functioning properly
• Reports malfunctions to Supervisor/Chef manager
• Maintains and verifies full compliance with OHSM/HACCP standards
• Collaborates with the Chef Manager to develop new menu items
• Utilizes advanced culinary skills to prepare specialty items according to established recipes
• Oversees and performs (when necessary) equipment sanitizing according to departmental and HACCP regulations
• Assists in the testing of all new recipes
• Relieves Second Cooks in patient and non-patient feeding

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Formal training in food preparation preferred
• Three years of large quantity cooking experience
• Two years related experience
