First Article Inspector

About the role
We are seeking an experienced Article First Inspector to support manufacturing operations, provide timely and accurate dimensional information to engineering, troubleshoot problem areas, and train people on measuring equipment. This position is based in Phillips, WI.
Schedule
First shift – Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Responsibilities
- Complete first article inspection per customer specifications and maintain appropriate records.
- Measure parts and report findings to engineering for submission to customer in support of all validation activities or as otherwise requested.
- Identify the appropriate measurement method and create measurement work instructions.
- Design go/no-go gauges and holding fixtures in conjunction with Quality Engineer/Engineering.
- Coordinate, perform, and maintain PPC calibration procedures.
- Verify tool changes and process dimensions after tool modifications.
- Perform complete or partial dimensional layout on tooling, pad print tooling, inspection fixtures, and gauges.
- Utilize appropriate statistical software as well as Microsoft software.
- Perform capabilities studies, gauge repeatability and reproducibility analysis, and provide statistical reports reflecting process control, process capability, and gauge repeatability.
- Understand and utilize geometric tolerancing.
- Extended travel to other facilities may be required to support business needs.
- Actively participate in continual improvement/innovation, corrective action, and internal/external customer satisfaction.
Requirements
- Minimum two (2) years of quality-related experience.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Qualifications
- Technical degree in precision measurement or equivalent education and experience.
- Demonstrable working knowledge of CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine), Vision System, and other precision measuring equipment.
- Ability to apply SPC (Statistical Process Control) and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
