Firmware Engineering Specialist III- Day shift
About the Role
You will use Linux and Windows operating systems in the operation of enterprise server systems for manually executed and automated testing. Responsibilities include:
- Installing Linux or Windows operating systems, reconfiguring test system hardware and software, downloading upgrades, installing drivers, updating server BIOS and system firmware, configuring networks, installing test software, and working with RAID storage configurations.
- Assisting with preparation of drives for testing through drive kitting, firmware downloads, format configurations, security activation, and labeling.
- Supporting both SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) and SATA drives.
- Supporting engineers during disc drive failure analysis by gathering system and drive logs or setting up analysis tools.
- Following procedures and work instructions to monitor testing in progress across 200 or more test servers.
- Actively collaborating with several engineers of various roles within the ECJQ and Firmware departments.
- Assisting other teams with lab equipment and drive needs.
- Supporting general lab operations by managing a test drive inventory of 5,000 or more disc drives and promoting a clean, efficient, and safe workspace in the test lab.
- Troubleshooting and resolving failures detected internally or in customer systems.
- Applying knowledge of embedded software and experience with best-practice software development methods.
Schedule
Work eight-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday. The preferred schedule is 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but it is negotiable. Occasional weekday or Saturday overtime may be required at Seagate’s discretion and is subject to change.

Qualifications
Your experience includes:
- Experience working in a test or production department, including equipment maintenance.
- Experience troubleshooting host operating systems, test software, system hardware, cabling, fixtures, and/or related equipment.
- Experience using Linux and Windows operating systems.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and related applications.
- Prior experience in the mass storage industry.
- Knowledge of hard drive handling, connectivity, and troubleshooting.
- Some experience interpreting, writing, or debugging scripting languages.
Pay
The estimated base wage range for this position is $24.94 - $35.66 per hour. The individual base wage is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

The benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year and may differ depending on work location and tenure with the Company.

This position is located at our Shakopee campus, 25 minutes southwest of Minneapolis. The campus offers a rural vibe with wide-open spaces for running, biking, or playing sports during lunch.
